New Rules for Nonconformities in the Manhattan Development Code

Managing nonconforming uses, structures, and other site improvements have always been a confusing and challenging effort. Since Manhattan adopted zoning n 1925, there have been regulations dealing with situations that do not conform to the current zoning districts. City staff has updated the way nonconformities are regulated in the Manhattan Development Code to better balance the property rights of the owner of the nonconformities with the needs of the surrounding neighborhood and community. We hope you find the summary video about the proposed changes informative. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Community Development Department.
