After the Labor Day flood of 2018, The City of Manhattan and Riley County began a plan update to the Wildcat Creek Floodplain Management Plan, called Resilient Wildcat Creek. The Resilient Wildcat Creek Plan Update is designed to be an innovated, comprehensive planning process to better understand the flooding problem and develop sound solutions to be better protected from flooding and help residents, business owners, farmers and property owners “bounce forward” when a flood does occur.

The outreach effort has included two core groups, the Citizen's Advisory Team and the Technical Advisory Committee. The Citizen Advisory Team (CAT) is a committee comprised of residents, business owners and farmers that have been impacted by recent flooding and will help guide the planning process by working with staff members from Riley County, City of Manhattan and partners from the region, the state, and federal governments. See the timeline below to track the progress of the plan update below and have your voice be heard by participating in a survey to finalize action items as the update is finalized.
